Picked up two of these for my kids. Outside shell is plastic and the inside is Styrofoam. Good for young kids who bike and/or skate. Both kids like this style better than the traditional looking bike helmets. Plus they won't get teased with this helmet while on a skateboard. Size is listed as "youth". My two were labeled on the box as "small". I'm sure that means "youth small". My youngest has a big head and this helmet fit right out of the box. They came with a package of pads to adjust the fit. The straps adjust just like all the other bike helmets I have seen. Once the straps were adjusted neither kid has a problem getting them on or off unassisted.
