About Giro Working late nights in his garage, designer/bike racer Jim Gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet in 1985. Friends at NASA helped tune the final helmet shape and vent placement, and the result was the Giro Prolight, a helmet that was better looking than traditional designs while offering a superior fit and still met the industry's toughest safety standards. Plus, it was half the weight of traditional helmets. Since then, Giro has advanced its helmets, many of which have set the standards for styling, function, and innovation for progressive, performance-oriented riders on dirt, pavement, and snow. Giro helmets are worn by millions of riders, cyclists, skiers, and snowboarders around the world. Young-bloods and old-timers; hard-cores, heshers, and hipsters; rookies, experts, and a few regular Joes too--in fact, pretty musch anyone that appreciates superior fit and function, cutting edge styling, and the very best ideas you get in a helmet.

Giro Flak helmet review November 7, 2006 Timothy S. Maxey (Sutton, WV USA) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
The helmet is awesome. It fit like a glove without needing adjustment, looks great and is very comfortable. The straps hold it snugly, and it doesn't shift. It is also very light.
Skate style with good ventilation October 22, 2007 Daniel Paradis (New Hampshire USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This helmet is a great choice for those who wouldn't be caught dead sporting the Tour-de-France look. It's comfortable, offers good ventilation and looks good. Definitely a better choice than using a skate helmet which isn't designed for cycling.
Great Helmet November 5, 2007 Sarah A. Roeder 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This helmet suprised me, in that it was actually very comfortable and sleak. Keeps your head cool and secures nicely. The belts under the helmet are also of good material (silky and comfortable).
my first helmet July 15, 2007 Michael Ahlquist (Lincoln, NE, USA, Earth) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
The sizing is dead-on and it keeps my head cooler than I expected. The design is really good. There is plenty of surface area for decals or stickers if you want to customize your helmet.
perfect June 16, 2008 R. Schultz (RENO NV USA) I ordered one for myself and a medium for my daughter. The finishes are first rate and the fit is snug. It takes a little adjustment to get the chin strap right. I am very pleased with the look and fit and would recommend it to anyone.
